Most people choose to relocate to Costa Rica because it is affordable. This country does have a different currency, which is Costa Rica Colon (CRC). A family of four may be able to live comfortably on USD$3,000- $3500 a month. A house with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths cost around $500-$1200. Basic utilities rarely cost more than $70 per month. The cost of electricity is around $50 per month, while the average monthly cost of water is $10. Transportation for gas in a car is around $175 a month.
